KOBO, which translates from Japanese as "artist’s workspace", is an artisan gallery featuring Japanese and Northwest fine crafts. KOBO specializes in both traditional and contemporary works, offering a selection of objects and functional forms in clay, fiber, metal, wood, bamboo, textile and paper. The Westcott Bay Reserve was
established in June, 2001 by Volunteers, Neighbors, Islanders, Businesses, Sculptors and Art Patrons. Its mission is to protect and preserve the natural environment of the San Juan Islands for the benefit of the public: through education about rural island arts, culture and the environment.
